Moonlight on the Falls Marathon Race Information

Join us for the 3rd Annual Moonlight on the Falls Marathon in beautiful Blackwater Falls State Park. Our cool summer mountain nights with an average temperature of 55 degrees offer perfect running conditions in an absolutely stunning location.

Quarter Marathon is one 6.55 mile loop that starts and finishes at Pendleton Point. The race start time will be 10 pm on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

The Half Marathon will be 2 – 6.55 mile loops that start and finish at Pendleton Point. The race start time will be 10 pm on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

The Marathon will be 4 – 6.55-mile loops that start and finish at Pendleton Point. The race start time will be 10 pm on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

The Distance Challenge will begin at 10 pm on August 26, 2023, and end at 7:45 am on Sunday, August 27. at 7 am. The cut-off time for runners to begin their last lap will be 6 am. All runners competing in the distance challenge must begin their last lap by 6:00 am. We will have designated parking and refueling area for all ultra runners along the course.

The Distance Challenge Relay will have the option for 2 Person, 4 Person, and 6 Person Teams. The Distance Challenge Relay will begin at 10 pm on August 26, 2023, and end at 7:30 am on Sunday, August 27. The cut-off time for the last lap will be 6 am. Each team competing in the distance challenge must begin their last lap by 6:00 am.

New for 2023, we have changed the registration process to allow relays to register and pay individually. The first person registered for the team will create the team and password to give to other teammates.

We will have a designated parking area along the course for refueling and teammates to park and cheer you on throughout the night.

Awards

We will be offering Top 3 Overall Awards both Male and Female for the Quarter Marathon, Half Marathon, Marathon, and Solo Distance Challenge. In addition to Overall Awards for the individual races, we will be giving Top 3 Awards for both Male and Female in 10-year increments 20 – 70 . Overall Awards will be given to the 2 Person, 4 Person, and 6 Person Relay Teams as well.

All participants will receive a Distance and Event Specific finisher medal.
All participants will receive an awesome lightweight blended hoodie.
All participants will receive an Inaugural Race Sticker.

Packet Pick Up

Friday, August 26, 5-9pm – Blackwater Falls State Park.

Saturday, August 27, 5pm – 9pm – Start and Finish Area, Pendleton Point(Start and Finish Line) – Blackwater Falls State Par

The Party

Our goal is to create a festival like Atmosphere. We will have live music beginning at 6 pm on race day 8/27 at Pendleton Point. More information coming early May.

H2O Stops & Aid Stations

We will have 3 aid stations on the course with H2o and Electrolytes, with 2 of them being hit twice and 1 hit once for a total of 4 aid stations potential aid stations on the course. One of the aid stations will be located at the Start and Finish area and it will be stock with additional carbohydrates and snacks for the Distance Challenge and Relay Participants.

Medical

A Medical Team will be onsite at the start and finish area for the entire race.

Location and Directions

The start and finish area will be located at the Pendleton Point Overlook at Blackwater Falls State Park. Additional information on Parking and other location details will be coming in early May.
